Ultimate Idiotarian Contest

by Joe Katzman at March 19, 2003 4:33 PM

That's it. We're throwing down the gauntlet. For the past 18 months the blogosphere has been abuzz covering crackpots and weirdos peddling notions that range from the merely illiogical to full blown psychosis. Jimmy Carter may have won the Fiskie, but even he can't match these people for sheer unhinged looniness.

Reader Tom Donelson suggested an ultimate idiotarian contest, and I liked the idea a lot. So, here's the challenge: top this one... if you can. I don't think you can. You see, it's all about the Stargate:

"This study provides an exopolitical analysis of the policy dimensions of an historic extraterrestrial presence that is pertinent to Iraq and a US led preemptive attack. It will be argued that competing clandestine government organizations are struggling through proxy means to take control of ancient extraterrestrial (ET) technology that exists in Iraq, in order to prepare for an impending series of events corresponding to the 'prophesied return' of an advanced race of ETs. The Columbia Space Shuttle may well have been a high profile victim of such a proxy war intended to send a message to US based clandestine organizations over the preemptive war against Iraq."
Dr. Michael Salla is a Researcher in Residence in the Center for Global Peace, a department of American University that also lists as a partner the Mohammed Said Farsi Chair of Islamic Peace. Biiig Hat Tip to Right Wing News for uncovering this one.

Readers, any suggestions on an accompanying anti-war slogan?

More to the point, can you find someone to top it? Idiotarians from all political points of view are eligible. Just use the Comments to post, or to link to your blog post, or use Trackback. We need a quote, a source, and the accompanying anti-war slogan. Organizational affiliations for your idiotarian are optional, but suggested.

War may be depressing, but this is fun. Get your dog in the game!

"Readers, any suggestions on an accompanying anti-war slogan?"

"No Blood for ET"

"Bush has been ZAPed (Zionist Alien Plot)"

"Don't Enslave the Aliens"

"Close Encounters of the War Kind: Not in My Name"

"ET Belongs to the World, not the US"

"Bush = Alien Genocide"

Chanted: "The ... Whole ... Galaxy ... is watching!!!"

No Blood for Dilithium!

#3 from Robert Crawford at 6:16 pm on Mar 19, 2003

Dilithium? If this over a Stargate we're going for naquada.

"Fight the real enemy: Ba'al!"

Tough to compete with the good professor, but his ability to alter world (this or any other) seems to be circumscribed by his tinfoil hat. I have another nomination: Hans Blix. Too many quotes, too little time, but here is the most recent one I have seen:

"I think political pressure, and even more military pressure, was essential to get the Iraqis to declare and to co-operate," Mr Blix told Radio France International.

"But I think that when pressure is transformed into the use of force, then that's a disaster."

(from BBC News site, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2863065.stm)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't military pressure without the threat of going to war in the case of non-compliance just a waste of good diesel or JP-5? Seems like faulty logic circuits in a man deemed fit by some in the world community (including a former President) to make a determination of disarmament compliance in Iraq. This man had his head in the dike, not a finger.

Is this somehow related to Democrat presidential candidate Kucinich's bill to ban orbiting mind control lasers?

Bush = Apophis!

#8 from PhotoDude at 8:27 pm on Mar 19, 2003

Yes, Blix might be a good choice, based on his opinion yesterday about whether Iraq will use WMD against US troops:

"I think it is unlikely they will do that because I think world public opinion, which they study quite a lot, is in large measure feeling that going to war is too early."

"So there is a fair amount of skepticism about armed action," Blix said. "That skepticism would turn immediately around, if they used chemical weapons or biological weapons," he said. "My guess is they would not."

My keyboard has no characters for the guffaw/snort/scoff sound that elicits from me.

The rallying cry of "Fight Plaque, Not Iraq" was seen at the Code Pink rally in D.C.

Hard to beat the one I saw here in Tallahassee:

Who needs oil? I ride the bus.

I've known for some time that Gore is a Goa'uld. There's your slogan: Gore's a GOA'ULD, people. It may have some effects on events, you can't be sure.

Here is a group effort for the contest.

Tom

08:41 PST -- In a unique form of opposition, some protesters at the Federal Building staged a "vomit in,'' by heaving on the sidewalks and plaza areas in the back and front of the building to show that the war in Iraq made them sick, according to a spokesman

I haven't got a single quote but you really need to check this fellow out as candidate Lord High Idiotarian.

Well, two quotes:
"I renounce my human rights."
"Art is wrong because it is the past, because it perpetuates itself, because it is transgenerational, because it is culture, and because it requires the suppression of anti-art to exist."

No stargate, but the skies on his planet are really funny colours.

Ladies and gentlemen,I give you...Paul Treanor!

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.

Finally, note that a constant onslaught of Trackback spams from auto-generated blogspot blogs has forced Winds to ban the blogspot.com domain from use in comments or trackbacks. If you host on blogspot, consider moving; otherwise, the complaints need to be directed at Google not us.
