Pfc. Jessica Lynch , Again

Just when we are all being soothed with reports that Pfc. Jessica Lynch suffered her injuries in a Humvee wreck in the ambush of the 507th, I see this report from Newsweek via the MSNBC web site:
NEWSWEEK has learned, however, that U.S. military intelligence officers believe Lynch’s injuries were inflicted after she and other survivors surrendered. “This poor girl,” said one Special Forces captain involved in her rescue. He’s among three military intelligence sources who say she was standing when she surrendered, and had minor injuries at most. That was confirmed by Mehdi Kafaji, the Iraqi orthopedic surgeon who was in charge of her treatment at the hospital in An Nasiriya. “She had blunt-force trauma not consistent with what you’d expect from a car accident,” Kafaji says. He adds that there was no sign of bullet wounds on her body, and her injuries appeared to have been inflicted by a severe beating, probably with numerous rifle butts. Her Fedayeen captors then took her to An Nasiriya’s Saddam General Hospital. She told doctors she had not been sexually assaulted. Lynch’s dramatic rescue by American commandos on April 1, videotaped by a military camera crew, was criticized by hospital officials as unnecessary grandstanding, since the Iraqi intelligence agents guarding her had all fled two days earlier. Indeed, there was no armed resistance to her rescue. But two military intelligence officers involved in planning her rescue told NEWSWEEK they’d learned from “multiple sources” that Iraqi officials were pressuring doctors to amputate her leg so she could more easily be transported to Baghdad. Her injuries were so severe, it still would have been a risky trip. “Their attitude was, if she dies, she dies,” says one intelligence officer. “That’s when we decided, let’s bring in the door kickers.” —Rod Nordland
You already know what I think happened. We shall see with the fullness of time exactly what is the truth and what is conjecture.

That we shall. Kind of surprised you're standing by your conjecture in its entirety... but no use arguing about it now, the truth will out and then we'll know.

I'm also going to throw this is as a preventitive measure:

"I dont' want to be a hard knuckle, as we call it here, but all this speculation is what starts the rumors.

I live here in Wirt county, I know the Lynch family and have seen first hand what all this speculation has done to them.

I know there will always be speculation, but doesn't it pay to get the facts first? All it does is hurt the innocent.

I am not trying to step on toes, but to Wirt County, the whole intire Coalation forces are HEROES! Each and every one of them.

I also wanted to say, We here in Wirt County, including Palestine and Elizabeth pray for those families who weren't as lucky as the Lynch's to find out their loved ones were alive. But, sometimes I also wonder if Jessie was the lucky one. How much of her life is ruined by what she indured, Will she ever lead a normal life?

I admit, to have her alive is great news to all of us, but ???

All my prayers to all the men and women fighting for what they believe in- us and our freedom, and the innocent who were forced to live life in Iraq under a Sadistic Evil Ruler.

May God bless them all."

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
