"This Land Is Your Land..." U.S. Election Parody

by Joe Katzman at July 18, 2004 9:00 PM

Regular reader SBD of dotnetnukehosting.com sends us to this hilarious Bush-Kerry singalong that had me laughing too. It's in Flash animation, and may take a while to load on a dial-up connection. But it's worth it... almost as funny as the brilliant Bush-Blair "Gay Bar" music video. Love the Ah-nold and Clinton cameos.

The semi-frightening thing is, once you've seen Bush & Kerry slag each other in the parody video, you have a reasonable facsimile of America's 2004 election debate in a sound-bite age.

Anyway, pay extra-special attention to the part right at the end. It's important.

P.S. Big Thanks to Thief's Den for posting the lyrics in our comments section!

This Land Is My Land
By Greg & Evan Spiridellis, JibJab.com
Sung to the tune of "This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie

Bush: This land is your land
This land is my land
I'm a Texas tiger
You're a liberal wiener
I'm a Great Crusader
You're a Herman Munster
This land will surely vote for me!

Kerry: This land is your land
This land is my land
I'm an intellectual
You're a stupid dumbass
I'm a Purple Heart Winner
And yes, it's true I won it thrice
This land will surely vote for me!

Bush: You have more waffles
Than a house of pancakes
You offer flip-flops
I offer tax breaks
You're a UN pussy
And yes, it's true that I KICK ASS! HA!
This land will surely vote for me!

Kerry: You can't say "nuclear"
That really scares me
Sometimes a brain can
Come in quite handy
But it's not gonna help you
Becasue I WON THREE PURPLE HEARTS!
This land will surely vote for me!
(Dean Scream)

Bush: You're a liberal sissy!

Kerry: You're a right wing nut job!

Bush: You're a pinko Commie!

Kerry: You're dumb as a doorknob!

Bush: Hey! You got that Botox!

Kerry: But I still won three Purple Hearts!

Bush/Kerry: This land will surely vote for me!

Indian: This land was my land...

Chorus: But now it's our land!

Arnold Schwarzenegger: From Kallie-phon-ya...

Bill Clinton (holding a babe in a bikini with a Statue of Liberty Crown & Torch) : ... to the New York I-(Hillary slaps him) ...what'd I do?

Kerry: From the Liberal Wieners...

Bush: To the Right-Wing Nut Jobs...

Kerry: This land belongs...

Bush: This land belongs...

Bush/Kerry: This land belongs to you and me!

Bush: Oh, and Dick Cheney too!

Good job!

Note that the lyrics alone don't give the full impact of the visual juxtapositions... from Kerry in bondage gear kneeling in front of Chirac et. al. to Bush riding a bomb down Dr. Strangelove style as he shouts "And yes it's true that I kick ass - Ha!"

"Kerry in bondage gear kneeling in front of Chirac"

My favorite visual from this animation....

#4 from Wind Rider at 4:29 am on Jul 19, 2004

Had to replay it after the Hill slapped Bill scene - was laughing too hard to catch it...

#5 from David Gillies at 11:48 pm on Jul 19, 2004

I was so convulsed with laughter when Howard Dean ran out of the screen doing his famous rebel yell that I nearly fell off my chair.

This is the funniest thing I have seen in ages! I watched it about 10 times last night - it is right on! You can't say "nuclear" - my favorite pet peeve about Bush! And Bush's voice when he calles Kerry a "Herman Mu-un-ster" is priceless. And the finale with Arnold and Clinton, I fell out of my chair!

The "babe in a bikini with the statue of liberty crown and torch" is supposed to be Monica Lewinsky.

#17 from Jeramy Griffith at 9:12 pm on Oct 29, 2004

Well the first time I saw the movie I was amused but it got better the second time. This is a must for people like me who find the entire election an almost soap opera like election.

very good song.

How did I end up being on a website by my
comments, I am not complaining at all, but I
have passed this website to many friends, and
think of it highly, hope you continue with
your parodies on the aforesaid subject (s)

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.

Finally, note that a constant onslaught of Trackback spams from auto-generated blogspot blogs has forced Winds to ban the blogspot.com domain from use in comments or trackbacks. If you host on blogspot, consider moving; otherwise, the complaints need to be directed at Google not us.
