Diary of Egypt from Rishon Rishon
Excerpt: A very interesting blog-diary of a trip to Egypt. Excerpt (via Winds of Change): One point that stuck with me in particular was his notion of the Rational Peasant, because I had been walking around Cairo and seeing much behavior...

Thanks for the link!

You're welcome. You also had a couple of links while you were away.

Yes, I saw that; thanks again. I noticed that Arthur responded (graciously), and that his latest edition seems to reflect our conversation.

Praktike,

It was a good conversation. And I agree with Rishon-Rishon that your bit about "The Rational Peasant" is a really good one. You ought to expand that one with more examples from various places and aid programs to lock in your point.

N.B. The one thing I don't have for you is a working email address (americanfootprint.com is OOO). Could you kindly drop me a private line backchannel for my personal use, joe here at this domain name? Thanks.

I'll send you an email tout de suite. And I'll also try to talk more about the "Rational Peasant" when I get a chance. My fatal flaw as a writer is my brevity, alas.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
